The Adventures of Junk Food Dude By Robyn Openshaw

I am so incredibly excited about this book! It is written by Robyn Openshaw the Green Smoothie Girl and illustrated by Lori Sume. Robyn has a heart to teach children about healthy eating. She did an amazing job. My kids are mid-raw vegans and even they were inspired by the book. The morning after I read it to my boys (ages 4.5, 7, and 10) they were analyzing everything they could eat that would be healthy. The 10 yr old and 4.5 yr old settled on a tray of pea shoots and grapes for a morning snack. The 10 yr old become the healthy eating police! He loves the book and it has been so exciting to see the little ones ask eachother if what they wanted to eat was the healthiest choice. They all want to make sure that they are Green Smoothie Guy’s not Junk Food Dude’s!
I want to make sure that this book gets into the hands of every little kid out there. If I was wealthy I would buy up copies of this book to take into schools, libraries, preschools.. I love it that much! So please buy a book for yourself and then buy a second book to donate to your kids school or to your local library! She has another book coming out- Junk Food Dude’s Recipes. So check into that one too! You can pre-order it now.
I am not joking- I have not been this excited about a book- children’s or otherwise as I am about this one. Healthy eating education starts with the children. Way to go Robyn!!! (more…)

Wheatgrass Nature’s Finest Medicine by Steve Meyerowitz

Wheatgrass “The Complete Guide to Using Grasses to Revitalize Your Health” by Steve Meyerowitz “The Sproutman” and published by Book Publishing Co. This is the Bible of Wheatgrass. I know there are some out there who are not believers in the healing power of grasses. I think you just have to try it for yourself. How do you feel when you are drinking wheatgrass juice on a regular basis? If you feel great then keep drinking it. If you don’t feel any different then try another grass or green. Green juices are an essential part of a healthy diet. (more…)

Garlic-Onion-Beet-Spinach-Mango-Carrot-Grapefruit Juice by Nathalie VanBalen
I am so excited about this book. A very cool adventure with a very cool story! This story taught my young boys that eating healthy is cool and adventurous and it asks the question: How would it feel to be food? My boys loved the story. They fell in love with Krog and Aksel, the juicing vikings! If you have children in your life- sons, daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors etc.. you need to get this book! If you absolutely don’t have children in your life then you should get it for your local library because this book should be in every local library. It was fun, qwirky, thought provoking, and did I say fun? Oh I did but it was so I can say it again!
The author is also for a limited time creating- by hand- the dolls pictured below- these are the characters from the story. Her website also has coloring pages for your children and on her blog is a page devoted to Ingvar’s Culinary Adventures. My kids loved this page! My 10 year old (a raw food chef in the making) can’t wait to make his own Ingvar pictures.
Please check out Nathalie’s website and pick up a copy of this book. I am really very excited about this book! Great job Nathalie! (more…)
