Live Raw by Mimi Kirk
Posted by admin on 06 10th, 2011

I just love
Mimi.. She is a very genuine person. She is one of my Facebook friends and I think she is amazing! I read the introduction to the
book and was blown away by just the small bit of her life story.. Just a bit for you: She is 72 and was voted Peta’s Sexiest Vegetarian over 50. She was also Mary Tyler Moore’s stand in for the Mary Tyler Moore show. I saw a picture of her a typical “Mary” outfit and was blown away- yep she looked just like Mary. She has been a vegetarian and vegan for the better part of 40 years. Yes, she is an amazing lady, with an amazing outlook on life, and she just happens to be a raw foodist. She feels like she is in her 20′s. I hope that when I am 72 I feel like I am in my 20′s. I am still working on that now. I wonder if I could feel like I was a teenager while in my 40′s! She is just a bit older than my mother in law- and yet my mother in law has all the ailments of the typical “old age” and she looks her age as well (beautiful yet 70). My daughter looked at the cover of the book and couldn’t believe that Mimi is 72. She said that she hoped she looked that good when she is 72. Me too!

Everything looks delicious.. We have tried a variety of
Abeba’s krackers (she sent me some samples) oh my goodness… so good. My 16 year old son almost ate them all. Then I came home and made more from her recipes.. We loved every recipe we tried. You will not be disappointed with any recipe from Abeba. The kookies in this book are made nut free for those who are allergic or those who are wanting to avoid a lot of nuts in their diets. Click

Raw Fusion by LindaJoy Rose
Posted by admin on 01 30th, 2011

I am very excited about this book-
Raw Fusion “Better Living Through Living Foods” by LindaJoy Rose, Ph.D. This
book emphasizes a lifestyle I have been sharing with others for a while now- melding the raw food diet with the cooked vegan diet in a healthy way. Mixing the best of both worlds. I am an advocate of the high raw diet. When we eat a cooked meal- the mixing of raw foods with the most nutritious cooked foods- that will digest easily is the best way to go. Raw Fusion will teach you how to do just that. It is chock full of information. I feel it should be the first r
aw food book a person gets. It will help you get through the transition. Raw Fusion Recipes is another great book- full of amazing recipes. Click
HERE to check out 2 Raw Fusion meal quick hits.
From
Raw Fusion “Raw Fusion is a hybrid of the best of the raw foods world, intermingled with an informed and conscious mainstream lifestyle. Individuals who find a high raw diet too limiting can find ways to integrate more variety into their meals without compromising nutrition. High raw foodists seeking healthy ways to add cooked foods into their diets will enjoy the versatility and variety of these tips. Families or individuals accustomed to more mainstream meals, but searching for tasty and convenient ways to increase their nutritional intake, will be surprised at how effortlessly one can fuse more raw ingredients into meals.”

Baby Greens- by Michaela Lynn and Michael Chrisemer, N.C.
Posted by admin on 10 11th, 2010

Baby Greens- A live-Food Approach for Children of All Ages by Michaela Lynn and Michael Chrisemer, N.C. It is published by Frog, Ltd and distributed by North Atlantic Books.
From the back cover:
” Baby Greens is a lively mix of nutrition education, philosophy, recipes, and activities for enhancing the relationship between parents, children, and their food. Authors Michael Chrisemer and Michaela Lynn take a living foods approach and adapt it for all nutritional lifestyles, ages and stages, providing support and empowering parents to establish healthy patterns of eating and living in themselves and their kids through a raw-foods-dominant diet.
In addition, Baby Greens offers essays on the holistic approach to pregnancy, breastfeeding, extended breastfeeding, weaning, food experimentation, and play.”
I enjoyed this book and learned a lot. I wish I had this book when my last child was a baby. I am excited though- the recipes for babies and toddlers I think will be enjoyed by my youngest 2- ages 4 and 6. I got some ideas for the older kids too. (more…)
