We are huge Isa Chandra Mosokowitz fans here. We have all of her books. I was so excited when Da Capo Press emailed me about reviewing her new book. A book on low-fat vegan recipes- fast and filling not to mention tastes great! They all look so good.. One of our faves is the Lettuce wraps with hoison and mustard tofu. Yum!

Are You Sure That’s Vegan by Claire Gosse
Posted by admin on 11 15th, 2010

I saw an ad for this book on facebook and had to check it out. Even though I eat mostly a raw food diet there is always a need for a good vegan dessert- especially when you have a house full of children. They love my raw desserts but sometimes they want a cook dessert. I emailed Claire about reviewing her book. She emailed me back with the question “Are you sure? The recipes are vegan but they aren’t exactly healthy.” I told her that it was fine, that we wouldn’t be eating them everyday, but with the holidays coming up- having some great vegan desserts would be a good thing. So she sent me a link to the ebook. Immediately I knew this book would get me through the holidays. She was right- the recipes are anything but healthy! But…they all look delicious and just like their non vegan versions. We are the only vegans in the family. My family is ok with this but we have had a harder time with hubby’s side of the family. They are coming here for Christmas. I am thankful I will have some desserts to knock their socks off and shock them that they are vegan!

The Gluten-Free Vegan by Susan O’Brien
Posted by admin on 11 2nd, 2010

I was excited to get to review this book as I am trying to include more gluten free dishes to my family. Since I eat a high raw diet I eat very little gluten products but my family eat more cooked foods and more gluten products. Having been in the health and nutrition world for a couple of years now I know that a diet high in gluten products isn’t good. We can all use a good course in the gluten-free diet…even if you don’t have celiac disease.
The Gluten Free Vegan is written by Susan O’Brien and published by
Da Capo Press. It begins with a great overview of the vegan diet and the gluten free diet. It then goes into the recipes.. My favorite part.
