Live Foods Live Bodies by Jay and Linda Kordich

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Jay and Linda Kordich at the Vegan Conference I spoke and cooked at in June. I missed Jay’s presentation and I am anxiously waiting for my copy of the dvds from the conference so I can see it- from what I hear it was amazing. I didn’t doubt that it would be. I had gotten to know Jay and Linda on Facebook. They were both so encouraging to me- as I was preparing for my first ever speaking engagement! I will never forget their encouragement and support.
Meeting Jay and Linda was the highlight of the weekend for me. They are amazing people who love eachother very much. They are really just as genuine in person as they are online.
The book is amazing. I am learning so much and the recipes.. They all look amazing! There isn’t a single recipe that I don’t want to try. They put their hearts into this book and you feel it in their writing. This is a must have book for every vegan- raw or not! (more…)

The Maui Vegetarian Cooking with Aloha by Brian Igarta

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Chef Brian Igarta at the Health and Healing Crusade. I was blown away by his talent in the kitchen though he was very humble- never wanting to step on my toes- as I was the head Chef for the crusade. He was always helpful when needed. He is my culinary hero! We had a potato fiasco about an hour or so before we were to serve dinner. Most of the potatoes didn’t cook in time, so we boiled some- and they were over cooked (ready for mashing- but we hadn’t intended on serving mashed potatoes) and the rest just tasted blah! Brian came in with his wife Crystal and worked his magic. The overcooked potatoes were turned into a mashed potato casserole and the others were roasted again with olive oil, garlic and italian seasonings. They were crispy and delicious.. They were the hit of the conference! Everyone was asking for the recipe. Thanks Brian.. (more…)

Easy Gourmet for Gluten-Free Vegans by Crystal DuBoyce

I am so excited to share this book with you. I love reviewing cookbooks. It is even more rewarding when I get to meet the authors of the books I am reviewing, which is usually through the internet. To chat with the author about their book, their passions, the things that they get excited about in the vegan lifestyle- or to learn a new trick in the kitchen.. I am such a kitchen geek! For the first time ever I have gotten the opportunity to meet an author in person. (more…)
