Chavela’s Salsa
We recently had the privilege to try some gourmet salsas from Chavela’s. They sell locally in the Las Cruses, New Mexico area but you can order from them online. Chavela’s is a family owned business. I love supporting family owned businesses, they are so important to our economy.
We have several items still to try- Enchilada sauces and some hot sauce (which my husband took with him today- so I will review that soon). For now we will focus on the Green Chili salsa and the Hot Jalapeno salsa.
The Hot Jalapeno is as it states in the title- HOT! One of the hottest my husband has tried- but very flavorful. He powers through the heat and enjoys it very much. The website says about this salsa: Traditional Hot Jalapeño Salsa is made with hot Jalapeño chile, tomato sauce, onion, garlic and cilantro. It’s perfect for those craving a fine, hot salsa.
The Green Chile is mild and flavorful. The website says about this salsa: Mild Green Chile (Chile Verde) Salsa is made with mild Joe Parker green chile, tomato onion, garlic and cilantro. Excellent for those who love the chile taste without the chile heat.
My husband likes to mix the two salsas together for even more flavor but a milder heat level. He loves hot stuff but sometimes he wants less heat- mixing the two was perfect for him. If you have a salsa lover in your family Chavela’s would make a great Christmas gift. Just put in a basket with a great bag of tortilla chips. Yummy.
I will be reviewing the enchilada sauces soon. So stay tuned.
