Pizza Day- A Review on Pizza Toppings Galaxy Foods-Field Roast Italian Sausage-Yves Veggie Pepperoni
So this is my pizza dough. I use a good organic white flour- about one cup and the rest is fresh ground whole wheat flour. I use just an everyday pizza crust recipe but replace white flour with wheat flour.
This is my favorite bowl for rising bread dough.

Here is the dough risen.. yummy
Here is the sauce I made. I used farm fresh tomatoes that I blanced and removed the skins, squeezed the seeds out, added garlic, basil, oregano, salt and pepper, tsp of sugar and some olive oil too.. In the end it was too thin so I added some good tomato paste to it- oh I used my strainer to remove rest of seeds and big chunks. It was very good- the rest of the sauce is in the freezer for next Sunday’s dinner.
I made a lot of pizza. It is a labor of love- it ends up taking a couple of hours- between rolling out dough, baking, cutting, serving, and rolling out some more. As you see I used a vegan cheese and some vegan meats. So here is the review. I used Follow Your Heart Gourmet Vegan Cheese Mozz style. It was very good and the kids were tickled pink to have cheese on their pizza. I didn’t load it down- as I am conservative financially and it costs more than regular cheese- but all in all I spent about $20 for enough pizza to feed a family of 8 and it was healthy. It would have cost $40 for pizza up here with all the fixings and it wouldn’t have been enough to fill everyone up. So I did good. I could have threw in another blog of vegan cheese and still been much better off $$. It melted pretty good and the flavor was good. I also used Galaxy Foods Vegan Grated Topping- that tastes pretty darned close to the grated parm in a can.. The kids love it! Both cheese are now officially the vegan cheese of choice- at the moment.
The meat- Field Roast Italian Sausage very good. All I did was cut it into small chunks. Jennifer from the company told me to hide it under the cheese to keep it moist- I did the best I could. It was just fine. The kids loved it. I used Yves Pepperoni slices. Yep, the kids were in heaven!
This was Jeff’s pizza. I added roasted green chilies to it- he loved it. I learned that from Diner’s, Drive In’s and Dive’s. I also rolled the dough out on cornmeal that I ground in my grain mill.
It was very good. I will throw green chilies on our pizza from now on. Thanks Guy!
I was so tired by the time we were in done but it was a great success. So try Follow Your Heart Gourmet Vegan Cheese- the Mozz style, Galaxy Foods Grated Topping, and Field Roast Italian Sausage.. Oh and Yves Pepperoni.. No need to miss pizza because you are vegan. By the way- no fat in the Grated Topping from Galaxy Foods, definitely fat in the sausage and mozz cheese but we don’t eat them everyday- and there would be way more fat in a traditional pizza. The Yves has 1 gram per 6 slices.
